Stantec provides professional consulting services in planning, engineering, architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental sciences, project management, and project economics for infrastructure and facilities projects. The St. Rose location focuses on Geotechnical Engineering Services, construction materials testing, subservice investigation and non-destructive testing (welding inspection). This location is a full service Geotechnical and Construction Materials testing lab, with the capabilities of performing a wide range of Geotechnical and Construction Materials tests and inspections per ASTM, USACE and project specifications.

How was Stantec founded and what inspired it to start business
in the Bayou area?
Headquartered in Edmonton Alberta, Stantec was founded in 1954 by Don Stanley. The worldwide company provides services on projects through approximately 12,000 employees with over 150 locations across North America and 4 locations internationally. In 2006, Stantec became a part of a joint venture to provide services to the USACE-New Orleans District. After 6 years Stantec made the decision to establish an office/laboratory in St. Rose, completing the cycle of becoming part of the Louisiana industry. Stantec has recently added offices in Baton Rouge, downtown New Orleans and Mississippi thru ABMB Engineers acquisition, further strengthening our commitment to the area.
What makes Stantec different than other companies in your market share?
Stantec has in our lab and other offices the access to diversified equipment and qualified personnel. The technicians are ACI and NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) certified and Stantec offers flexibility to meet the contractor’s needs beyond just QC testing and inspection, as well as a quick turnaround.
What has been Stantec’s greatest accomplishment in the last year?
Starting the St. Rose office in 2010 from the ground up. This process included ordering and validating/calibrating every piece of equipment that came in the door. We also had to obtain and maintain Validation status with the USACE, AMRL and CCRL. The Saint Rose office has grown from 2 employees to 9 in and is continuing to grow.
What is the biggest challenge you face in the marketplace today?
Being the “new kid on the block” and educating everyone about what we offer here at Stantec Consulting.
What’s next in 2013 & beyond for Stantec?
Continue working with the Corps of Engineers; and a goal of diversifying our client base.
