Claire Nettles, Chris & Cindy Weber, Chris Enfinger and MaryAnn Choina of the ABC New Orleans/Bayou Chapter banded together to help raise $955 for the 20th Annual NO/AIDS Walk that took place on Sunday, September 27th at Audubon Park. The 3.2 mile walk was in memory of many that lost their fight to HIV/AIDS, and to bring awareness to the New Orleans Community.
The NO/AIDS Task Force raised $148,551 from the walk.Each year, the NO/AIDS Walk raises awareness about HIV and AIDS for thousands in the community. In addition, money raised at the walk helps support AIDS service organizations across the state, many of which educate the public on how to prevent AIDS.
Over 27,000 cases of HIV/AIDS have been reported in Louisiana since the start of the epidemic. Louisiana currently ranks 5th in state AIDS case rates, with New Orleans and Baton Rouge being the hardest hit.
