OSHA STATISTICS (04/03/2009)
As of March 9, 2009, the OSHA-Baton Rouge Area Office (BRAO) has received 26 fatalities for investigation.

In comparison, FY2008 fatalities investigated totaled 36 and in FY2007 the total was 30.  The apparent causes for the FY2009 fatalities as follows:

Electrocution: 4 (2 of 4 in the construction industry)

Caught-by:  2

Fall:  6 (4 of 6 in the construction industry) 

Struck by/Crushed/Run-over:  11 (4 of 11 in the construction industry)

Suffocation:  1

Drowning:  1

Crane-Tipped and fell into water:  1 (1 of 1 in the construction industry)

 

Note:
