Since Hurricane Gustav made his landing in Louisiana, F. K. Fab Group has four new members on their team: four baby squirrels, who became homeless when their entire nest and the branch it was attached to came crashing to the ground as the result of the strong hurricane winds. With the nest and branch out of the tree, there was no way to reunite the five week out babies with their mother, who was no where to be found.
That’s where Jim Roemer and the team of F. K. Fab Group come in. He, along with his wife Frances and the staff have been caring for and feeding the young squirrels and plan to release them at 12 to 13 weeks with the aid of the local animal rescue representative.
As you can tell from the photo to the right, they are so small that their eyes are not even open yet.
The employees at F. K. Fab Group are feeding and caring for them during the day. At night, they go home with Jim and return the next day. It has been a real morale boost and team building exercise for the employees, who have thrown their heart and souls into salvaging and rehabbing the little squirrels. This may be the first instance when squirrels are invited to visit a construction company on a daily basis.
