The Florida Presidential Primary was held Tuesday and candidates from both sides are preparing for the upcoming Super Tuesday on February 5th when more than 20 states will hold primaries. Because of Mardi Gras, Louisiana’s Presidential Primary is set for Saturday, February 9th.
On the Democrat side, the race has now been narrowed to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton with John Edwards dropping out of the race Wednesday. As for the Republicans, it has essentially become a two-man race with John McCain’s momentum building as he comes off a major win in the winner-take-all Florida Presidential Primary. Romney came in a close second place in Florida’s polls with Giuliani in third and Huckabee in fourth place.
Early voting for Louisiana’s February 9th Presidential Primary began last Saturday, January 26th and will remain open until Saturday, February 2nd. Voters who want to vote early may do so in person at their parish Registrar of Voters office. Offices will maintain regular office hours, remaining open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day of early voting. YOU DO NOT NEED A REASON TO VOTE EARLY! All voters may vote early, just like they are voting on Election Day.
Please note that voters can only vote in the party primaries if they are registered as members of the Democrat or Republican parties.
