Barriere’s South Shore Asphalt division recently completed the $968,000 France Road Parkway Marshalling Yard for the Port of New Orleans in 12 days. The truck parking lot was over 30 years old and had been heavily damaged by floodwater from Hurricane Katrina. Barriere was the contractor who build the original lot. In fact, James Fulton, Project Superintendent, was an asphalt laborer on the original crew.
The scope of the project consisted of 2,700 square yards of 21” full depth patching, 6,700 tons of asphalt overlay and 49,000 square yards of asphalt milling. Spencer Caruso was the field engineer and coordinated the numerous activities taking place on the site simultaneously.
Thanks to a huge team effort, the project was built safely, on time, and under budget.
