OSHA ISSUES RULE REQUIRING EMPLOYERS TO PAY SAFETY EQUIPMENT COSTS (02/14/2008)

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration published a new final rule on November15th which requires employers to pay for all personal protective equipment (PPE) worn by their employees.  The final rule goes into effect February 13, 2008 with full compliance required by May 18, 2008.

ABC is closely examining the new PPE rule and will provide ABC members with further information about the requirements in the coming weeks.

“Workforce safety is our highest priority,” said Dave Meyer, ABC 2007 national chairman.  “We feel OSHA’s new PPE rule - which the majority of ABC members have been following for a number of years - will further strengthen the partnership between employers and employees and ensure that all workers not only receive the proper equipment, but continue to return home safe to their families every day.”
