Early voting for the 1st and 6th Congressional District Primaries on March 8th began last Saturday, February 24th and will remain open until this Saturday, March 1st. Voters who want to vote early may do so in person at their parish Registrar of Voters office. Offices will maintain regular office hours, remaining open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day of early voting. YOU DO NOT NEED A REASON TO VOTE EARLY! All voters may vote early, just like they are voting on Election Day – March 8th.
Please remember this primary is a closed party election. Democratic voters may only vote for a Democratic congressional candidate. Republican voters may only vote for a Republican congressional candidate. The only political party who has prohibited unaffiliated voters (Independents) from participating in their primary is the Republican Party, meaning independent voters may vote for a Democratic congressional candidate.
