As you may already be aware, Chapter President Skipper Rinaldi recently tendered his resignation effective June 1st. To date, the Board and Executive Committee have met and have discussed a plan to move forward. As the Chapter Chair, I wanted to communicate to the membership both the stability of the Bayou Chapter and the selection process that will be used to fill this key position.
First off, the Bayou Chapter is stable and strong, both from a financial perspective and from a membership perspective. At Skipper’s request, the board has agreed to allow him to remain in his current position until June 1, 2008. This will afford the search committee time to locate a qualified candidate and will also help the chapter ease into the transition of new management.
To properly identify a new president, a Search Committee has been formed. This committee will be chaired by David Mayer of Barriere Construction and will include the following members: Frances Roemer of FH Myers Construction, Andy Anderson of King Company, Roby McCay of Interior/Exterior Building Supply, Rob Wooderson of Gibbs Construction, Paysse McWilliams of Voelkel McWilliams Construction, Jim Lewis of Landis Construction and Phil Shuler of Chaffe, McCall LLP. These eight members will work independently of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
Advertisements for the position will be placed in local publications and in national trade journals. Once all resumes have been received, the Search Committee will narrow the list of applicants and will conduct phone interviews of the candidates. Once they have completed all phone interviews, they will develop a short list of the top contenders and present this list to the Executive Committee. In-person interviews will be conducted between the Executive Committee and the applicants.
I strongly encourage you to pass this information on to anyone that you feel has the necessary skills and drive to undertake this position in our chapter.
